They can build brand awareness/loyalty, test new concepts/designs and generally push their marketing in an innovative way. But because Santos isn’t a retail brand I can’t see there would be much benefit in the company establishing itself in Second Life – apart from as a general profile-raising exercise. I can see real business benefits to podcasting and blogging, especially internally, but I have to say Second Life doesn't make it onto my communications wish list for Santos.

Re: Second Life business mag to launch

Having spent many hours setting up the Cafe stall, I am looking to take ANYTHING to the bank, Bry!! :-)

But with the interest in SL growing amongst our echo chamber, and definately taking up your thoughts Paull and Trevor, I reckon I might as well start a page up on the new PR wiki about corporates who are SL-ing, plus the consultants who are also there.

The biggest hassle with SL is the time it takes to be involved, especially when you are at the opposite time of the day from the vast majority of your colleagues (hence why you will find me sitting alone, but a snapshot by Bryan shows several people in the cafe stall)

Re: Second Life business mag to launch

Lee:

Proving that great minds not only think alike, but WRITE alike ...

while you were blogging about the "indefatigable" C.C. Chapman in Second Life, I was blogging about C.C. Chapman in Second Life, the "indefatigable" Christopher Penn, and you!

Here's the post: http://www.bryper.com/2006/...

Indefatigable is one of those "50-cent words," as my high school English teacher used to say. So ... uhm ... our combined blogging value for the two posts is a whopping $1.00! Let's take THAT to the bank :)

Re: Second Life business mag to launch

Intellgirl, keep in mind that Lee's SL avatar is female! He's yet to explain himself on that one, but wonder it certainly could make for some interesting "research into communication models."

Re: Second Life business mag to launch

Lee: Thanks so much for mentioning my site! Are you doing any research into communication models in SL? Nonverbal communication in SL? I'd love to pick your brain sometime!
Intellagirl

Re: Second Life business mag to launch

Sorry mate I don't have a clue about any of this stuff

Re: Second Life business mag to launch

ALWAYS up for an interview and one in SL would be a lot of fun. let's schedule it when I get back from my vacation I'm about to head on.

Another link that might be helpful is a sort of Second Life Primer I did at http://www.managingthegray....

C.C. Introducing them to Second Life would only reinforce this stereotype and serve to confuse them methinks.
